Anonymous. Antinous: Study I (Cast Bronze). Solid bronze of Antinous, Favorite of Hadrian 117-138 AD. A 20th Century sculpture. The young boy’s exceptional beauty and grace attracted the attention of arguably, Rome’ s greatest emperor Hadrian and became the emperor’s “beloved”. He accompanied Hadrian on his extensive provincial travels. He drowned on a journey down the Nile in 130 AD. In superb condition and on a custom wood stand with brass plate.
